Situation

When Toyota Canada looked at expanding their online and social media presence in Vancouver, they turned to Talk Shop to develop an interactive event designed to engage bloggers and place Toyota Canada in front of influential online outlets. Based on previous blogger events in Toronto and Montreal, Toyota expected a small number of bloggers and their guests to be present; needless to say Talk Shop exceeded these expectations.

Solution

The blogger event was to be hosted five days before Christmas so in order to create a timely concept appealing to bloggers and potential customers alike, Talk Shop Media developed a Winter Driving Event concept, inviting bloggers to a learning session hosted by an expert in road safety. The Vancouver bloggers took part in the winter driving session and catered event hosted on the illustrious Richmond Olympic Oval’s ice rink. Guests were invited to interact with Toyota vehicles, listen to a line-up of speakers from BCAA and ICBC, dine in the Legacy suite overlooking the ice and facilities and be entered to win several prizes.

Results

  • Attracted more blogger attendance than in any other Canadian city
  • Secured over 400,000 impressions online through live tweets, posted photos, Facebook posts and blog post by attendees
  • Blog posts and features by all bloggers in attendance
