As Controller, you will work directly with Talk Shop Partners and leadership team to oversee the company’s financial operations – including budgeting, forecasting, production of financial statements and reports, management of the department, oversight of accounts payable and receivable, and participation in financial decisions.  The Controller is responsible for monitoring and maintaining internal controls, while overseeing financial systems and related compliance requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the VP, Operations, the Controller will:

  • Direct and administer the day-to-day accounting operations including oversight of accounts payable and receivable; specifically but not limited to, invoicing, billbacks, team and partner expenses, and payroll processing and management
  • Reconcile monthly company credit card and bank accounts
  • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting
  • Prepare, analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; monthly, quarterly and annually
  • Participate in weekly and monthly financial meetings
  • Participate in the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the VP, Operations; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and produce monthly budget P&Ls for all business units and Talk Shop 
  • Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit/accounting firms and review firms’ performance 
  • Retain constant awareness of Talk Shop’s financial position 
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices
  • Remain up-to-date on best practices in finance, business systems and internal control measures
  • Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field
  • CPA or CMA designation
  • 5+ years of management experience in a financial capacity in a project-based work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate company financial performance and take necessary steps for improvement and growth
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience in payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Strong analytical and problem-identification/resolution skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be proactive in communication and recommendations on standards/improvements
  • Ability to effectively deliver high-quality work with strong priority and organization setting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to take on a variety of tasks related to the role
  • An energetic, forward-thinking individual with strong financial skills and analytical abilities who thrives in a dynamic environment focused on growth
  • Advanced computer application knowledge

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation will be dependent on relevant experience. After 3 months of employment, the individual will be entitled to Talk Shop’s comprehensive benefits program, which includes:
