We are looking for a senior-level outside salesperson with a deep network within the Canadian business landscape and a strong personal brand.

A day in the life of a Talk Shop Sales Director: 

  • Contribute to the agency’s existing sales strategy 
  • Develop and execute an outside sales strategy – prospecting, contacting and meeting with potential clients 
  • Work closely with Marketing and Management to plan and execute tactics that will raise the agency’s profile and support lead generation such as participating in speaking engagements, hosting lunch and learns and sponsorship of key industry initiatives
  • Lead workshops about public relations, communications, marketing and digital trends for companies as a lead generation tool
  • Source RFPs that would be a good fit for our internal capabilities and spearhead responses (assemble internal team, coordinate timelines and response requirements, compile and submit RFP responses)
  • Develop and manage a sales pipeline 
  • Work closely with Business Directors to hand off leads 
  • Write proposals and close sales deals on a monthly basis
  • Keep leads up to date in Talk Shop’s CRM
  • Participate in weekly sales meetings with the broader sales team 
  • Proactively identify new areas of growth for the firm through industry research and networking 
  • Participate in Talk Shop culture events and touchpoints – we work hard, but make time for each other 

What you’ll bring: 

  • Proven track record in sales, with 5+ years of sales experience, ideally at a PR or Marketing agency 
  • Confidence in leading client communications – you are a clear communicator and enjoy building relationships with others
  • Excellent proposal writing skills – ability to understand the client’s needs and write clear, concise proposals that address concerns 
  • Quick learner who will come to understand how Talk Shop is different, and how we can support clients
  • Extreme attention to detail – you take pride in the  high-quality, client-ready work you produce 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to contribute in a high performing team environment

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a deep business network in Vancouver and/or Toronto 


Talk Shop is committed to offering competitive pay for the role and experience that the candidate brings. 

This role is primarily commission-based (10% of outbound sales identified and closed by the person in this role),  with a base salary of $70,000, plus benefits. Should the annual target of $400,000 be met, total compensation would equal $110,000. Note that in the successful candidate’s second year of employment, the revenue target would increase.

This is a remote role. Talk Shop has offices in Vancouver and Toronto, and we welcome in-office presence 2-3 days per week should the ideal candidate be based in cities with a Talk Shop office.
