Katie believes in working hard and staying humble. A journalist by trade, she began her career in PR at 1-800-GOT-JUNK? growing their award winning PR department. In 2006 she co-founded the money-mentoring business Smart Cookies and was featured on Oprah. In anticipation of the 2008 economic crisis she was among the first to focus on making financial information engaging and relevant to a female audience. By 2009, Katie was co-hosting her own W Network series and had co-authored the financial best seller Smart Cookies Guide to Making More Dough.
Named among the youngest women to rank on the 40 under 40, Katie also founded the STEM Spotlight awards, a program aimed at recognizing the innovative thinkers and doers in the STEM sectors (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math). Katie is an active financial contributor to CTV News and works as a dedicated volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver. Katie is a mentor to women in business through FWE and in the Chair or the Board of Small Business BC.
