Here at Talk Shop Media Vancouver, we’re lucky to call South Granville home. Working in the area gives us a great excuse to get out and see all that it has to offer. If you haven’t had a chance to get to know South Granville like we have, here are some of our favourites to get you started!
South Granville is home to sixteen art galleries and antique dealers! Our office is neighbours with a few of these great galleries, with Kurbatoff Gallery and Fragrant Wood Gallery just seconds away from our front door. It’s easy to spend an hour or even an afternoon strolling through the galleries, and once a year in June the South Granville Business Improvement Association hosts the ArtWalk tour for those who can’t get enough.
It’s no secret that the ladies of Talk Shop like to eat out! Visit our offices and you’ll likely see at least one of us eating the Tuna Diablo Panini from Liquids + Solids, a California roll from Sushi Van, or some orzo pasta from Meinhardt. We’ve also been known to pick-up some meals from Heirloom Vegetarian, an organic, vegetarian restaurant tucked away on West 12th – we are very excited for their new juice bar opening soon! For an afternoon treat, nothing beats a Salted Caramel Blondie from Beaucoup Bakery. With food this good, bringing lunch to work can definitely be a challenge!
For the theater buffs in our office, the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage is the perfect place to take in a show after work. They have a superb line-up of musicals and plays for the 2014-2015 season. If Shakespeare is more your style, you may want to take the 10-minute drive from South Granville over to Bard on the Beach at Vanier Park. They feature four different Shakespeare plays all summer long, and a nice view at that.
Of course, you’ll need something to wear that’ll take you from the office to the show. Here in South Granville, we’re surrounded by some of Vancouver’s best shopping, and it’s not unusual to find one of us checking out the season’s latest on our lunch break. There are the big-name brands like Anthropologie and Lucky Brand, but the area is also home to some locally owned boutiques, such as Deerest and Spank Clothing. When we’re feeling luxurious, we like to head to Black Goat Cashmere,. With more than a few fitness buffs in the office, it’s great to have the Running Room just around the corner. In case you need a little running motivation, they host a run club on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Those are just a few reasons why we love South Granville, but the list could go on and on! Of course, our favourite place to go is the Talk Shop Media office, but then you could say we’re a little biased!
