We work to keep things light, fun and creative here at Talk Shop, but when tragedy strikes the impact can be devastating. We are personally connected to families from Fort McMurray who have completely lost their homes and have only now what they were able to quickly pack into their cars as they fled in terror. Our company and team has made donations and has constantly updated one another on the growing stories of inspiring generosity that people have shown through their donations and efforts – a beautiful showing of human decency and compassion.
It is so great to see that some of our partners have taken action to help as well:
Orchard Ford dealership in Kelowna, donated $100 from every vehicle sale on Saturday, May 7 They also took loads of donations from staff and customers to the Canadian Red Cross using F-Series trucks.
Kamloops Ford Lincoln dealership is collecting donations, food, water for evacuees and will ship via F-Series trucks to Canadian Red Cross.
Ford of Canada had all Ford dealerships across the nation host a Drive 4UR Community event on May 7th, where Ford of Canada donates $20 per test drive to the international charity Free the Children. Ford of Canada then doubled the funds raised, with half the proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross in support of Fort McMurray.
From May 7 to May 14 Cactus Club is donating all proceeds from The Feenie Burger sold in Alberta to Canadian Red Cross in support of Fort McMurray
Boughton Law, a Vancouver based law firm, has made a donation to the Canadian Red Cross’ Alberta Fires Appeal and has encouraged the firm’s lawyers and staff to do what they can to help as well.
Let’s continue this trend of caring for our neighbours, now and in the years to come.
