Challenge

Canzone Construction grew more than 3,000% in six years on an approach of delivering competitive bids, doing great work and winning new projects on referrals.
Referrals got Canzone here. But they weren’t going to get it where it wanted to go next: more complex projects, new sectors and, eventually, design-build projects. Those clients didn’t know about Canzone yet. Winning them meant explaining what made the company different, on paper and in the room, not just relying on referrals to make the case.
That story mostly lived in the heads of a few central leaders. Canzone needed one clear way to tell it, and in a way that worked for everyone, from the office to the job site.
Our Approach
The best version of Canzone’s story already existed. It was spread across the people who built the company and the clients who kept hiring them. Our job was to find it and make it repeatable.
We started with a series of interviews across leadership, employees and clients, and a pattern showed up fast. Clients didn’t come back because Canzone could build. Plenty of firms can build. They came back because Canzone raised problems early and owned the outcome.
That became the spine of the positioning: complex work, early communication, personal accountability. We then took the direction to a workshop with the whole team to pressure-test it. If the site crew couldn’t say it, it wasn’t the brand.
From there we built the full platform:
- Purpose statement and positioning
- Four values
- Three messaging pillars with proof points
- Brand narrative and elevator pitch
- A voice guide that keeps everyone sounding warm, capable and bold
We also mapped how the brand shows up in proposals, the website, careers content and headshots. An internal rollout plan keeps the values in daily use, so they don’t become set-and-forget.

- Interviews to full leadership sign-off in two months, with the whole team shaping the brand
- Project win rate increased since launch
Canzone no longer needs a referral to make its case. Messaging is clear and compelling thanks to a complete brand platform with a brand narrative and market positioning. Proposals and pitches tell the same story in the same voice, no matter who is telling it. And because the whole team built it, nobody had to be sold on it. Project win rates continue to grow, and its new brand positioning now does the heavy lifting referrals used to do.
