Challenge

Fitzrovia, a Class A purpose-built rental developer, engaged Talk Shop as it prepared to enter the vintage rental market. Unlike new development, acquiring and repositioning existing rental buildings requires careful navigation of established communities, heightened scrutiny around tenant security and sensitivities around renovictions.

Fitzrovia needed a communications strategy that recognized the concerns of residents and local stakeholders, addressed potential issues before they escalated, and established credibility as it entered a more complex operating environment. The priority was to build constructive community relationships while protecting the company’s reputation and creating a foundation for sustained public visibility.

‍

Our Approach

Talk Shop partnered with Fitzrovia to develop an integrated issues management and stakeholder engagement strategy, grounded in proactive communication and a clear understanding of the local landscape.

The work included comprehensive resident communications, preparation for community meetings and one-on-one engagement with local associations. Ongoing issues monitoring helped identify emerging concerns, inform responses and support a consistent approach across stakeholder interactions.

‍

Media relations were deliberately phased to ensure public visibility was aligned with Fitzrovia’s engagement on the ground. Rather than leading with publicity, the strategy prioritized stakeholder readiness, thoughtful communication and issues preparedness.

As Fitzrovia’s presence grew, the mandate expanded to include ongoing public relations across its portfolio and a thought leadership program. This positioned Fitzrovia to contribute meaningfully to conversations shaping urban planning, rental housing and multifamily development.

The result is a coordinated communications approach that supports Fitzrovia’s growth, strengthens stakeholder relationships and helps the company navigate a highly scrutinized segment of the housing market.
